APC Primary rerun election for Nasarawa West Senatorial District of Nasarawa State is yet to commence.
Delegates from the five local government areas of Keffi, Nasarawa, Toto, Kokona and Karu Local Government Areas that make up the zone converged on the Convocation Square of the Nasarawa State University, Keffi as early as 8 o’clock in the morning of Saturday 12 November 2022, for the election but the election was yet to commence as at the time of this report.
In an interview, some of the delegates who pleaded to speak under the condition of anonymity said they had been in Keffi since 7am to participate in the election as ordered by the court but APC officials were yet to arrived at the venue for the rerun election.
The delegates called on APC to expedite action and deploy officials and materials to conduct the rerun election.
Another delegate Mr Mathias Ajeh who said he came from Karshi in Karu Local Government area explained that the delay was creating a lot of suspicions as to whether APC is ready to conduct a free, fair and credible rerun election that would be acceptable by the two aspirants.
Mr. Ajeh however, maintained that they had resolved to remain at the Convocation Square to participate in the election as according to him, they were not leaving anything to chance.
Our correspondent gathered that the delegates sat according to their local government councils waiting for the arrival of officials to conduct the election but there was security presence in the area.
However, none of the two APC aspirants for Nasarawa West Senatorial District, Mr. Labaran Magaji and Mr. Shehu Tukur was seen at the venue of the election at the time of this report.
The Federal High Court Lafia had on the 2nd of November 2022 ordered the All Progressives Congress APC to conduct fresh Primary Election in Nasarawa West Senatorial District of Nasarawa State following a suit by one of the aspirants during the election Mr. Labaran Magaji.
APC had in a letter signed by National Chairman of the party, Senator Abdullahi Adamu fixed 12 November 2022, for the conduct of the rerun election.
Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone is the Senatorial District of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, a seat he was occupying before he resigned and becomes the National Chairman of APC.
