Plateau: Kanke Council Boss Salutes Veteran Journalist, Barde at 74

The Executive Chairman of Kanke Local Government council, Henry Jan Gotip,  has felicitates with a Nigeria veteran Journalist, Nde James Gideon Barde on the occasion of his 74th birthday celebration.

The Council Boss congratulated the veteran Journalist, a Diplomat and Elder Statement and said he represents one of the best minds in Ngas land that has contributed enormously to the growth and development of the land,  Plateau State and Nigeria as a whole.

In a statement by Media aide to the Council Chairman, Gopep Wudira Monday, the Chairman said Nde Barde is a patriotic an exemplary leader who has contributed eminently not just to the unity of Ngas land and its political stability but Plateau and Nigeria as a whole.

The Council Boss described the Veteran Journalist as a thorough-bred media professional who distinguished himself in journalism and dedicated many years serving the society through his gift of writing and public communication.

The council Chairman recalled that in 1974, Nde Barde dedication, resilient and hard work which the  Ngas man is known for, was deployed to the Government House as Press Secretary to the Military Governor of the then Benue Plateau State. 

He said the ace journalist rose through the ranks in journalism, became the first substantive Editor of the Nigeria Standard Newspaper between 1975 and 1978, one of Nigeria’s foremost newspapers, groomed many journalists and mentored them to become professionals in their own right. 

On his role as Chairman Ngas elders forum, the Council Boss said Nde Gideon played a vital role in uniting the Ngas nation and protecting the heritage of the Ngas people.

Hon. Gotip also acknowledged his contributions to the political development of Ngas land and the role he has continued to play within the Ngas Elders Forum towards consolidating on peace, security and development of Ngas land. 

While wishing him many more years of God’s blessings, good health and divine protection, Gotip prayed that God will grant him more strength to continue to serve the Ngas nation, Plateau and the country in general.
