Insecurity: Jos East Stakeholders rally one another for Peace

The Agwom Izere of Izere Nation, Rev Dr Isaac Azi Wakili have admonished stakeholders in Jos East Local Government area to embrace unity of purpose and harmonious relationship to checkmate activities of hoodlums terrorizing people in the locality.

The Monarch was speaking at a stakeholders meeting which held at the  MDGs Hall, Angware, the headquarters of the Jos East local government area.

 In a statement by the Jos East local government council Information Officer, Mr. Yusufu Magit, said the Monarch pointed out that it became expedient for him to gather the stakeholders to brainstorm on measures that will bring an end to the incessant killings and kidnapping by yet to be identified armed men in the area.

The Agwom Izere further used the opportunity to caution the citizens against consumption of illicit drinks, late hours events, taking law into their hands, under aged shepherding.

Here therefore called for synergy among farmers and herders and urged them to support the security operatives and constituted authorities in fighting the criminals.

Also bearing his mind, the Executive Chairman of the Council, Mr Yakubu Izang Ezekiel regretted that Jos East which was hitherto known for its peaceful coexistence, tolerance among religions, ethnicity is no longer safe and called for the need to close ranks and fight against the common enemy of progress for the betterment of all.

The Chief Security Officer of the Local Government Area,  commended efforts of the Lalong led rescue administration on the Plateau,  the commissioner of Police, Commandant, Operation Safe heaven and Security Chiefs in Jos East for the proactive measures taken in deploying security to the affected area in the aftermath of the recent killings and kidnapping to stop further breakdown of law and order.

He pledged that the Council would continue to accord all the necessary backing to the security operatives to restore peace  to the Local Government Area.

At the meeting, the stakeholders unanimously agreed to unite and cooperate with relevant authorities to expose any strange and suspected persons within their domains, even as special prayers for God’s intervention upon the land were rendered by CAN and JNI leaders in that order.

Relevant stakeholders that gathered at the meeting includes, the five District heads in the area, Executive and Legislative Councils, CAN, JNI, Ardos Miyetti Allah, Afizere National and Youth leadership, Community leaders and Security Chiefs among others 

It would be recalled that Armed bandits recently attacked Fobur and Fursum Districts of Jos East local government area where Five people were killed and one person was kidnapped and the Agwom Izere Rev Dr Isaac Azi Wakili led a high powered stakeholders, including Traditional, Executive and Legislative Councils, Afizere National leadership, Youth and Women wings, CAN, JNI leadership and security Chiefs respectively on a condolence visit to the deceased families and that of the kidnapped victim who have since regained freedom.
