Jos Council Boss Directs Opening of Markets After Security Threats, Assures Tight Security

The Jos North Local Government Council has announced that all markets within the council area will remain open on Thursday, February 26, 2026.

In a press release issued on Wednesday by Mercy Kachollom Chuwang, Chief Press Secretary to the Chairman, said the decision followed consultations with leaders of various market unions across Jos North.

The council called on traders, market women, business owners, and residents to go about their normal activities without fear or hindrance. It assured the public that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee safety and maintain order in all markets and across the local government area.

According to the statement, security has been strengthened to ensure peace and stability, adding that the situation is under control.

Residents were also urged to conduct their daily routines peacefully and promptly report any suspicious activities or concerns to the appropriate authorities.
