Dr Yahaya Ubam, Executive Secretary (ES), Nasarawa State Health Insurance Agency (NASHIA) says that the agency has so far enrolled 308,000 residents on the state health insurance scheme.
The NASHIA Executive Secretary stated this during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in commemoration of the 2025 Universal Health Coverage Day on Tuesday in Lafia.
He added that the meeting was also aimed at reviewing the activities of the agency, getting inputs from enrolees and owners of facilities registered with the agency, with a view to addressing them to ensure improved service delivery.
He added that the beneficiaries were registered under different packages such as the public sector, the informal sector, the vulnerable and students, among others.
Ubam said that since the programme was inaugurated in 2019 with zero enrollees, but as of today, the agency has registered over 308,000 persons.
He explained that a lot of the enrollees have benefited from medical services from the 260 healthcare facilities across the 13 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state, with a few challenges, which they are working to address.
The Executive Secretary further announced that the agency has digitalised all its processes to ensure easy access to effective healthcare services to the enrollees.

He also used the medium to call on healthcare providers to be professional in their conduct and give their enrollees the desired services in order to increase the confidence of the people in the insurance scheme.
The Executive Secretary also lauded Gov. Abdullahi Sule for the support to the agency to achieve the feats it has achieved so far.
Ubam also commended spirited individuals who adopted and paid for indigent people in their communities and called on others to emulate them.
He therefore assured that the agency would continue to strive hard towards achieving its mandate which is in line with the universal health coverage.
In his goodwill message, Dr Gaza Gwamna, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Health, commended the management of the agency for the innovations they have introduced, which have helped in ensuring effective and better service delivery.
The commissioner, represented by Dr Damina John, Permanent Secretary of the ministry, explained that the government would support the agency towards achieving its mandate.
Gwamna noted that accessible and quality healthcare services to the people are the topmost priority of the Gov. Abdullahi Sule-led administration.
The highlights of the meeting included questions and answers from union officials as well as owners of health facilities based on the challenges they are encountering in the course of the services the enrollees are receiving. (NAN).
