A women group known as Stand up for Women Society (SWS), Plateau State Chapter has visited and presented financial support to patients on admission at Bingham University Teaching Hospital Jos and Plateau State Specialist Hospital in Jos respectively.
Mrs. Pomak Rhoda Micah, State Chairperson of the group, while speaking during their visit, said they are in the hospital to show support in their little way to children and women in the hospitals because the society is hard and many people are struggling to live.
In her words, “the purpose of our visit is to touch lives of children and women… maybe some of them have been discharged but don’t have the financial income to support themselves. So we are here to show them love as part of our aim and objectives.”

According to Mrs. Micah, SWS is an organized group of women that bring women together to speak with one voice for their voice to be heard, support government activities, advocate and mediate in cases of molestation or domestic violence.
Also present during the visit was the SWS Vice President, North Central, Lady Emmanuel who said the group is an international organization that is in 24 countries and is partnering with UN women to encourage women to participate in all aspects of governance and build their confidence to be resilient.

At Bingham University Teaching Hospital, Mrs. Kaneng Davou who spoke on behalf of the Assistant Director of Nursing Services, showed gratitude to SWS for taking out their time and resources to reach out to their patients and prayed God to replace what they have removed in hundred folds.
According to her, the support will go a long way in settling the Patients’ bills, adding that some of them have been discharged but are yet to settle their bills while others are finding it difficult to feed themselves while on admission in the hospital.
Some relations of the patients, Chiamaka Njoku and Monno Michael were full of gratitude for the support especially seeing that it came from women, saying it has cheered them up and prayed God to bless them.
