With deep respect and solemn hearts, we, the 1965–1969 class of the former Gindiri Teachers’ College, come together to pay tribute to one of our brightest stars—Honourable Justice Daniel Dantsoho Abutu.
From our formative days in Gindiri, Daniel stood out—not just for his academic brilliance and commanding intellect, but for his natural leadership, humility, and firm sense of justice.
It was no surprise when he was appointed Head Boy—a role he carried with maturity, discipline, and an unwavering commitment to fairness. He was a quiet force, earning admiration through his example more than words. Even then, it was clear he was destined for greatness.
That early promise blossomed into a towering legacy in the legal profession.
Justice Abutu’s journey through the legal system was marked by distinction, integrity, and a deep love for justice. Rising through the ranks with honour, he eventually ascended to the exalted position of Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, leaving behind a legacy that continues to shape Nigerian jurisprudence.
His judgments were rich in wisdom, guided by both the letter and the spirit of the law. Yet, it was not only his brilliance in the courtroom that we remember—it was his unwavering character. Justice Abutu carried the values of Gindiri with him throughout his life: truth, service, discipline, and faith.
To us, his classmates, he was a brother, a source of pride, and a cherished friend. He never lost touch with his roots or with the people who shared his journey from those formative teenage years. Even with all the honours and titles, he remained deeply grounded, approachable, and sincere.
Today, as we bid farewell to this great man, we are comforted by the indelible legacy he leaves behind. His life was a beacon—a model of what it means to lead with conviction, to serve with humility, and to live with purpose.
We honour your memory, dear Daniel.
We celebrate your legacy.
And we thank God for the privilege of calling you our classmate and friend.
Rest in perfect peace, Hon. Justice Daniel Dantsoho Abutu.
Your light will forever shine in our hearts.
