
The Nasarawa State Emergency Management Agency (NASEMA) had confirmed that two people were struck dead by the thunder strike in Obi Local Government Area (LGA) of the state on Monday, June 9th.
Barr. Benjamin Akwash, Director-General of NASEMA stated this during a condolence visit to the families of the deceased and the injured on Wednesday in Obi LGA.
According to the DG, the state government received the news of the thunder strike with shock and described as unfortunate the deaths of two of the victims.
He said that Gov. Abdullahi Sule and the state government had consoled the families of the deceased and wished those hospitalised a quick recovery.
The NASEMA boss urged the bereaved families to accept what had happened as the will of God and prayed God to repose the souls of the deceased and give them the fortitude to bear the loss.

“The governor had asked us to visit and condole you over what had happened and to also visit those receiving treatments.
“We are also to take inventory of destruction of property, if any, to assist in cushioning the effect of the disaster,” he added.
The DG gave the families of the deceased an undisclosed amount of money to support them and promised to take care of the hospital bills of those receiving treatments.
On his part, Elisha Musa-Dabioga, Deputy Chairman, Obi LGA who led the NASEMA team to the houses of the victims, said that four persons were affected in the incident.
He said that one of the victims died instantly, three were rushed to the General Hospital Obi but referred to the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital (FUTH).
“One of the victims, Aminu Ayitogo, died instantly during the strike, while Mika Christopher died at the Federal University of Lafia Teaching Hospital on arrival.
“The other two are getting better and were already discharged from the hospital,” he added.
Musa-Dabioga also appreciated Gov. Sule and the NASEMA DG and his team for the condolence visit. (NAN).
