Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic (IMAP), Lafia on Thursday matriculated no fewer than 5,128 students for the 2024 /2025 academic session.

Dr Nurudeen Maifata, Acting Rector of the Institution, while speaking at the ceremony held at the Volleyball Court of the Institution charged the newly matriculated students to shun all forms of vices.

The Acting Rector said that the Management of the Polytechnic has been working tirelessly to support Gov Abdullahi Sule’s effort to transform the institution to a global standard.

He commended Gov Sule for his numerous supports to the institution, especially in the area of infrastructural development, approval of additional staff, man development, staff and students welfare, and security of lives and property.

Maifata, while encouraging students to leverage the availability of hostel space to ease their accommodation crisis, thanked the governor for graciously awarding the construction of an additional female hostel.

“Today marks a solemn occasion aimed at formalising your enrollment and initiation as worthy students of our revered Polytechnic, willing to bind yourselves to its rules and regulations.

“I implore you to enrich yourselves with knowledge, skills, and experiences even as you interact with significant others, ensure you weigh the consequences of your decisions and actions to enable you to achieve your mission here.

“Note that ignorance of the law is no excuse, we will not hesitate to deal decisively with any students found wanting in criminal behaviours like drug abuse, cultism, stealing, indecent dressing and tendencies towards violent behaviours,” he warned.

The Acting Rector thanked the partners, donors and regulatory bodies like the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, National Youth Service Corp, Tertiary Education Trust Fund, NELFUN, National Board for Technical Education and Federal Ministry of Education.
