Nasarawa Assembly Clerk, Ego Maikeffi laid to rest, Speaker others pay last respect.

Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Dr. Danladi Jatau, has described late Clerk of the state legislature, Mr Eko Maikeffi Abashe as a committed, dedicated, hardworking and humble person while he was alive.

The Speaker stated this while Speaking at the funeral service of Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe, the Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, at ECWA Church Kubang, Panda Development Area of Karu LGA today.

Speaker Jatau said that the late Clerk has lived an accomplished, selfless and fulfilled life. 

He said that the death of Maikeffi was a big blow to the legislative arm considering his role and positive contributions to  the development of the institution in the State. 

” We are here to pay our last respect to our late clerk, Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe.

” He was a dedicated and hardworking clerk and  he lived an accomplished and fulfilled life. 

” On behalf of myself, family, Principal Officers , Management and staff of the assembly, we sympathize with his immediate family, Kubang community, Panda development area and the entire state over his demise.

” We also urge the family to take solace in God as death is inevitable and may his soul rest in peace with the lord” the Speaker said. 

Jatau also appreciated Gov. Abdullahi Sule for assisting Ego Maikeffi Abashe during his ill health.

He prayed God to forgive his shortcomings and grant him eternal rest.

Besides, Jatau urged the people of Panda and the entire citizens of the state to continue to pray and support Gov. Abdullahi Sule administration to succeed. 

In their testimonies, Mrs Nankasuwa Maikeffi, the deceased Wife, Barr. Joel Aninge, Odyong Nyankpa, Dr Musa Ahmed, the State Accountant General and former Speaker of the state legislature, Mr Paul Samuel Okugya, who spoke on behalf of the Assembly, Barr Aso Amos, the deceased Nephew, Hon David Maiyaki, Gov. Sule’s SA on State Assembly Liaison among others, all gave good testimonies about his life.

They said that the late Clerk was humble, hardworking, friendly, peace loving and lived a life worth of emulation.

Hon David Maiyaki, Gov.Sule’s SA on State Assembly Liaison appealed for the construction of Panda road.

Earlier, Rev. George Isuwa Alaku of ERCC Golden Arena Akurba- Lafia, urged Christians and other Nigerians to live lives worth of emulation while on earth.

The cleric while quoting Galatians 6: 7- 10 said what you sow is what you will reap.

He urged Christians and other Nigerians to do the right things at all times for peace and for the overall development of the state.

He also urged Christians to shun evil acts at all times in order to inherit the kingdom of God.

The cleric prayed for the reposed of the soul of late clerk and prayed God to grant him eternal rest.

In his Vote of thanks, Amb. Timothy Maikasuwa, Chairman, Teachers Service Commission (TSC) Nasarawa State thanked Gov. Abdullahi Sule, Speaker Danladi Jatau, the Accountant General, Dr Musa Ahmed among others for supporting and attending the funeral Service.

He prayed God to grant them safe journey to their various distinctions.

It would be reported that late Eko Maikeffi Abashi died on March 1st, 2025 at the age of 59 after a protracted illness.

He was survived by a wife, Mrs Nankasuwa Maikeffi and children.

It would be reported that Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe served as the Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for the past 15years as he took over in January, 2010 and was the longest serving Clerk of the House since the creation of the State in 1996.

It would be further reported that the funeral service had in attendance both serving and former lawmakers among other personalities. 

The journey for the burial commenced at the Federal University Teaching Hospital Lafia by 7:30 in the morning where his corpse was taken and at the hospital, the former Majority Leader of the House Hon. Umar Tanko Tunga who is the present Commissioner for Lands and Survey paid last respect to the late Clerk.
