The Management, Staff, and Students of Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, are thrilled to welcome the newly inaugurated Governing Council of the Institution.
The Council, chaired by Okpeh O. Okpeh, a professor is comprises of distinguished personalities of international repute, including Bitacy Jirgba, an Engineer Yvonne Shiminenge Atime, Edo Edoja and Achihin Hur.
The Rector, of the Polytechnic Martins Moses Agena, a PHD holder, in a statement on behalf of the Polytechnic community expressed his heartfelt felicitations to the Chairman and members, acknowledging their diverse roles and experiences.
Agena said the Council’s inauguration is a significant milestone in the institution’s history, marking a new era of transformation and growth.
The Rector emphasised the importance of the Council’s support in realizing the New Direction’s blueprint in education and uplifting the polytechnic’s standards.
“My Chairman and Members, we appreciate the fact that all of you are distinguished personalities of international repute.
“We are not unaware of the diverse roles you have played in your very distinguished careers and we are happy that you will bring your worth of experience to bear on that task of rebuilding this institution to bear a little resemblance of the expectations of His Excellency who has called you to service.
“Your support towards our realizing the New Direction’s blueprint in education and the transformative drive to lift the standard of our great Polytechnic is highly appreciated”; the rector said.
As the Council begins its tenure, the polytechnic community headed by Agena as the rector prays for God’s guidance, wisdom, and understanding to discharge their duties effectively.
Agena added that the inauguration ceremony, performed by Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Executive Governor of Benue State, marks a new chapter in the institution’s journey.
He asserted that with the new Governing Council in place, Akawe Torkula Polytechnic, Makurdi, is poised for greater heights and a brighter future.
