
A leading aspirant for Kanke Local Government Council in the scheduled October 9 local government elections in Plateau State, Hon. Tokkuk Gumbeji has said the issues of security, agriculture and empowerment would take center stage in his administration if given the mandate.
Hon. Tokkuk Gumbeji popularly known as TK, spoke with Daily News Breakers during his consultation with some critical stakeholders of Kanke in Jos, the Plateau State capital.
While appreciating efforts of the current Transition Implementation Committee Chairman of Kanke, Hon. Caleb Shikir, Tokkuk assured that if given the mandate, he will build on the successes of the past leaders of the council.
According to him, “my intention is to increase the number of vigilante to complement efforts of the law enforcement agencies to beef up security in all major junctions by checkmating activities of those coming in and out of communities in Kanke local government area.”
On Agriculture, Hon. Tokkuk noted that Kanke is an agrarian area with fertile lands for cultivation hence, the need to support the farmers with farm inputs in a subsidize price and to also train them to improve in their farming.
He hinted the Stakeholders of encouraging planting of economic trees which will also help in addressing climate change aside boosting economy of the people.
Hon. Tokkuk also spoke on his plan to overhaul the two major markets of Dawaki and Amper to transform them to be conducive for people to do businesses with a strong believe that it will equally boost the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the local government.
On health, the Chairmanship aspirant also hinted them of using his office to bring Snakebite treatment center in Kanke for quick treatment of snakebite victims within the locality and it’s environs.
Hon. Tokkuk who is a former Councillor that represented the good people of Shiwer ward from 2009 to 2012, also affirmed his commitment and support for education and the wellbeing of the people of Kanke Local Government.
