Northern Nigeria Human Right Advocates Commiserates with Government, Victims of School Building Collapse

The Northern Nigeria Human Right Advocates (NONIHRA) has commiserated with the government of Plateau State and victims of the last Friday Saint Academy School building collapse in Jos North Local Government Area of the State.

The group Coordinator Mr. Sylvester Yibis in a statement described as tragic the loss of 22 young students in the incident as devastating.

He prayed God to heal the injured, saying every child has the right to access quality education in a safe and secure environment.

“Our heart goes out to the families and love ones of the victims, and we offer our deepest condolences for their unimaginable loss.” The statement added.

The group called on the authorities concern to conduct a thorough investigation, hold accountable those responsible and take immediate measures to ensure that such tragedy never occur again.  

“The families and love ones of the victims and survivors deserve justice, support and compensation.

“This incident also highlighted the need for greater investment in safe and durable infrastructure, regular inspections and enforcement of building codes to prevent such disaster.

“The right to life and education of hundreds of students cannot be compromised due to negligence and lack of accountability.” The statement read.

While appreciating the Plateau State Government swift response, the group pray for the families to find strength and comfort in the face of the unimaginable tragedy.
