
Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has urged the new Chancellor, Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Liman to prioritize science courses considering the importance of science to societal development.
Mr Danladi Jatau, Speaker of the House made the call while playing host to the management of the institution led by its new Vice Chancellor, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman on Monday in Lafia.
Jatau assured the management of the Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) of its continuous commitment and support to enable the institution succeed in providing quality education in the State.
He said that the assembly would continue to give the institution all the necessary legislative support to succeed.
He appreciated the VC for the visit and assured her of the assembly’s commitment under his leadership to support them to succeed.
The speaker tasked the VC on the need to give priority to science courses, stressing that the state was lacking behind in sciences.
”We are lacking in science man power, let’s prioritize science education in the state,” he said.
”I want to appreciate you for the visit and to congratulate you on your appointment as VC of the State University, Keffi.
” We are proud of the university and we will give you all the necessary support in order to ensure that quality education is provided for our children,” he said.
The speaker commended Gov. Abdullahi Sule for appointing Prof Sa’adatu as VC of the university.
” I also want to commend the Governing Council of the university for recommending you to the Governor for appointment as VC considering your track records of achievements,” he said.
Jatau further commended the immediate past VC of the university, Prof. Mohammed Suleiman Bala for developing the university while urging the VC to key into his footsteps.
He urged the management of the institution to ensure moral training of students for societal development.
Earlier, the new VC of NSUK said that the visit was to familiarize themselves with the House.
She also said that the visit was to congratulate Jatau on his emergence as the speaker of the state legislature.
The New VC also solicited for the support of the assembly to enable the institution succeed.
” We will continue to abide by the rules and regulations of the House.
” We appeal for the continuous support the university is enjoying from you in order to take the institution to the greater height,” he said
The VC assured of her readiness to collaborate with the assembly for quality education.
” We will work together to see that our children get quality education,” she said.
