
The District Head of Wakama in Nasarawa State, Chief Adams Makka Nangba, has cautioned against illegal mining in his domain in order to boost the revenue base and security of the area, the state and the country at large.
The District Head gave the warning during an expanded stakeholders meeting of the area in Wakama Nassarawa Eggon LGA.
The District Head urged all miners to follow government due process in their interest and for the overall development of the society.
“We will not tolerate illegal mining in the interest of peace and the security of our land and the state at large,” he said.
He also said that the meeting was aimed at discussing way forward in order to promote unity and peace in the area.
The District Head said the importance of peace to human and societal development could not be overemphasized.
“Peace is priceless and non negotiable and it is the necessary requirement for the development of any society,” he said
The district head also urged stakeholders to continue to contribute positively to the development of the area and the state at large.
He enjoined the people of the area to embrace tolerance and show love to each other for the overall development of the area and the state at large.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Miners Association, Nassarawa Eggon Local Government, Mr Musa Adamu urged all those involved in mining activities to follow due process in their interest and for the overall development of the state.
He also advised against illegal mining in the area.
The meeting had in attendance village and ward heads, officials of Eggon Cultural Development Association ( ECDA), youth association, traditional title holders, women among others.
