Over 300 orphans from three local government areas of Nasarawa State have received food and nonfood items donated by the wife of the Peoples Democratic Party Governorship Candidate in the 2023 election, Mrs. Miranda David Ombugadu.
At the distribution of the items in five orphanages in Akwanga, Lafia, and Karu Local Government Areas of the state, Mrs Miranda Ombugadu said the gesture was in response to the worsening economic challenges facing the country.
She stated that the initiative was not meant for any political gain but purely borne out of her desire to show love for the less privileged in the spirit of Valentine’s season.
Mrs. Ombugadu called on Nigerians to use the Valentine’s celebration to reach out to the vulnerable group considering the rising cost of living which is taking its toll on many households across the country.
The head of one of the benefitting orphanages, in Karu Local Government Area Mrs. Aisha Kwalme said the gifts came to them at the most appropriate time as they could barely afford three square meals for the inmates given the high cost of food items in the market.
Mrs. Miranda Ombugadu also distributed toiletries to newborn babies at Ola Hospital Alushi, in Akwanga.
