
The Nasarawa State chapter of All Progressives Congress (APC) has reinstated its commitment to honour the peace accord signed with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
This is contained in a statement signed by Otaru Douglas, Publicity Secretary of APC in the state and made available to newsmen on Monday in Lafia.
The Publicity Secretary said the peace accord was sign at the presence of Umar Nadada, Commissioner of Police and other security agencies in the state ahead of the January 16 hearing of the state’s governorship dispute at the Supreme Court.
He added that the leadership of the party in the state has decided to adhere to the peace agreement hence their directive on its supporters to avoid making inflammatory statement.
He explained that consequent upon the peace deal, the leadership of APC called on its members and supporters to employ civility in their conducts henceforth.
“Our supporters and members should maintain decorum, mutual respect and refrain from making utterances capable of inflaming passion.
“On no account should any party member or supporter author or publish unauthorised statements from any quarters, be it on social or mainstream media platforms.
“Any statement on matters arising from the proceedings of the court to be issued by any individual or appointee of government must be verified and edited by the media center of the party and that of the government house before its publication,” he added.
He enjoined their teeming supporters to remain calm and refrain from any act capable of undermining the peace and stability of the state either before, during and after the Supreme Court judgment.
He also advised PDP and their supporters to honour the peace treaty in the interest of peace and development of the state.
“Let it be known to us all that there must be a peaceful Nasarawa State for all before either APC or PDP would govern it,” the APC spokesperson in the state added.
It would be recalled that Mr David Ombugadu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was challenging the announcement of Gov. Abdullahi Sule of APC as winner of the March 18 governorship election. (NAN).
