Nasarawa residents begin 7days prayer ahead of Appeal Court Judgement

The residents of Nasarawa State on Monday began a seven days joint prayer session ahead of the forthcoming judgement on the governorship dispute at the Appeal Court.

The prayer session which drew participants from Muslims, Christians and other worshippers was aimed at seeking the hand of God closer to the judges, protect them from any evil affluence.

The residents told newsmen in Lafia that the prayer session is to ensure that the mandate given to David Ombudagu, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) freely by the people on March 18 is given back to him.

Ustars Suleiman Abdullahi, one of the participant said that Allah is a listening being, Almighty and creator of the universe, who neither discriminates nor fail in his promises hence, the move to change the wishes of the people against the the overwhelming mandate given to who they want will fail.

“We genuinely gave our mandate to the PDP candidate in March 18 for a positive change in the state, and a few people are trying to steal our mandate.

“We will continue to pray to Allah, who will listen to our supplications and do his will in Nasarawa State,” he added.

On his part, Rev. Emmanuel Bako said they would continue to seek the face of God in prayers because it remains the key to unlock and overcome every problem.

“Our God Almighty is always ahead of every principality. The will of God shall prevail and put to shame those insisting on taking the People’s mandate given to David Ombugadu in Nasarawa State.

“The axe of God is waiting for anyone challenging the power and the will of God in this case for it is said in the Book of Isaiah 58:11 that the Lord will guide his people, satisfy their desire and make their bones strong. They shall be like a watered garden, like a spring water, whose work do not fail,” he added.

Some participants who spoke on condition of anonymity in Lafia, said that revealed that over 95 per cent of the residents irrespective of religious beliefs are seeking God’s presence even in their private places to ensure that right judgement is given.

They expressed optimism that the mandate genuinely given by the people and affirmed by the tribunal would be retain by the Appeal Court.

It could be recalled that Justice Onyemenam Uchechukwu led Appeal panel sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, Nov. 15 reserved judgment on the appeal filed by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

Gov. Sule and candidate of All Progressives Congress (APC) is challenging the annulment of his election by the Governorship Elections Petition Tribunal.

The tribunal on Oct. 2, in a split judgment of 2-1 where Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, Chairman of the tribunal and Justice Chiemelie Onaga, declared Mr David Ombudagu winner of March 18 governorship election.

Meanwhile, the only dissenting judgment was delivered by Justice Ibrahim Mashi, who dismissed the petition filed by the PDP candidate for lacking in merit and upheld the declaration of Gov. Sule by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). (NAN).
