
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Nasarawa State say its personnel have arrested four suspects for alleged vandalisation of rail track.
DSC Jerry Victor, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the command made the disclosure in a statement and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Lafia.
According to him, the Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad have arrested the suspects on Aug. 14, 2023.
The Command’s spokesperson explained that the suspects were arrested at about 10:30pm with a DAF trailer truck conveying large quantities of vandalized rail tracks concealed in scrap iron.

“They were arrested along Lafia/Akwanga express road, in Sabon Pegi, Shabu community of Lafia the state capital.
“When we received intelligence about the content of the truck, undercovers was swiftly deployed and their activities were keenly monitored until they were intercepted,” the PRO added.
DSC Victor further said that the Commander of the Squad, DCC Dandaura Apolossaid, told the command that the syndicate disguised themselves as scavengers and scrab dealers to perpetrate this heinous crime.
“The government has invested heavily in making this infrastructure work for the citizenry, but the bad eggs amongst us always sabotage the efforts of the government.
“As one of our core mandates is to protect Critical National Assets and Infrastructure in the country, the squad will not relents in her efforts to fight to standstill the economic saboteurs in the country,” DEC Victor said.
The PRO said that investigation is on to ascertain other collaborators involved in this dastardly act and arrest them.
He therefore said that the suspects would be charge to competent court of jurisdiction for prosecution after investigation. (NAN).
