Tribunal reserves judgement on Nassarawa-Eggon East Assembly petition

The National and State House of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State has reserved judgement on the petition by Ibrahim Mohammed of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the election of Jacob Kudu of All Progressives Congress (APC) and House of Assembly Member representing Nassarawa-Eggon East constituency.

The candidate of the PDP Ibrahim Mohammed, is challenging the victory of Jacob Kudu of APC in the polls conducted in March this year.

Justice Francesca Nnong-Isoni, Chairman of the three-man panel, announced that the judgement on the petition was reserved after counsels to the petitioner and respondents adopted their final written addresses on Saturday.

She Chairman therefore, told the parties that the day the judgement would be delivered would be communicated to them.

Earlier, Edidiong Usungurua, counsel to the petitioner told the tribunal that he has adopted all the argument in his written address.

The petitioner’s counsel urged the tribunal to annul the election of Nassarawa-Eggon East constituency for non compliance with the electoral act.

Also, Ishaku Dikko (SAN), counsel to Jacob Kudu, the assembly member adopted his written address and urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.

On his part, Sunday Akoh, counsel to the third respondent, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC),  urged the tribunal to dismiss the petition adding that, the commission had returned the assembly member in compliance with the law and electoral act.
