
Legislative Arm of Jos East local government council has commended contractors handling various projects of the Local Government Area.
Leader of the Legislators, Engineer Samuel Azi Kayarda gave the pass mark, when he led principal officers, committees on works, housing and transport and the entire legislators on an oversight function to the projects sites as enshrined by law for checks and balances.
Statement by the Council Information Officer, Yusufu Haruna Magit who was among the entourage said, the legislators visited some project sites at Shere and Maigemu Districts, both inherited and initiated, where they showered accolades on the Executive chairman of the council, Hon. Pastor Yakubu Izang Ezekiel for awarding contracts to competent contractors who delivered quality job and on scheduled.
The first place visited was the two (2) celled box culvert located in Gwisti, along Angware – Shere – Maza road as initiated by the Pastor Yakubu Izang Ezekiel led administration, awarded to SEKMAKENZY GLOBAL SERVICE LTD which has been completed and Gazarak Gwisti, also in the same Ward.
At Angware – Gada in Jos East – Rinjin Gani in Toro Local Government Area of Bauchi State road project which was initiated by the immediate past administration, where work stopped at a kilometre after Gada had before the intervention been neglected since the creation of Jos East Local Government Area, hence the Ezekiel led administration took the bull by the horns by mobilizing the contractor DUWAN NIGERIA LTD back to site.
In some of the places, the lawmakers observed that there are some grey areas at some project sites which needs urgent attention, and therefore called on work and Budget Departments who play a key role in the project execution to call the contractors of the affected areas to order to ensure proper finishing of same.
At Angware market square, the 20 lockup Shops project which was initiated when Jos East was under the former Jos North, later Jos South and then the present Jos East Local Government creations, was abandoned for more than a decade in history was raised to only about twenty percent (20%), but the the council chairman, Pastor Yakubu Izang Ezekiel led administration with full backing from the Legislative Arm, the traditional council and other stakeholders, confronted the project on a direct labour with a passion to give a boost to internally generated revenue (IGR) and the shops are now ready for allocation to interested traders to occupy.
