The Local administration in Jos East of Plateau State under the leadership of Pastor Yakubu Izang Ezekiel has been commended for achieving much within short time frame of his mandate.
Executive Governor of Plateau State and Chairman, Northern Governors Forum gave the Charing news while performing the official Commissioning of heavy road construction equipments including, excavator, grader and bulldozer as well as 11 motorcycles and a Hummer bus for Legislative Arm of the Local Government, along Fusa – Shen road construction site in Fursum District of Jos East Local Government Area of Plateau State on Friday.
The rescue team leader, Barr. Simon Lalong who was received by a mammoth crowd amidst drumming and dancing by the famous Asharuwa and Amata dancers, opined that Jos East stood tall among her counterparts in the 17 Local Government Areas of the State and further said he was performing his last minutes assignment in Plateau State as the Executive Governor and sort for forgiveness from all and sundry where he has erred and solicited for prayers to enable him complete his tenure successfully.
The Governor further thanked the people of Jos East and Plateau State as a whole for according him the desired support to enable place his footprints in the sands of time during the eight years of his rescue administration under the banner of the All Progressive Congress.
He therefore, called on the people of Jos East and the State at large to rally round the Chairman of the Council and his successor to achieve their target goals.
He used the occasion to condemn in strong terms, the killings at Mangu and some parts of the state, saying because plateau people are mourning the lost of lives and valuable properties, due to the dastardly act of the enemies of progress, he decided to commission the projects in a low key.
He however, condoled with Government and people of Mangu Local Government Area and the deceased families, while calling on the security operatives to bring to justice any persons or group of persons found wanting in the cause of investigation into the inhumane act.
Earlier on, Executive Chairman of Jos East Local Government Council, Hon Pastor Yakubu Izang Ezekiel unveiled that his administration acquired the equipments in order to address the lack of access roads situation across the locality which will also help in addressing security challenges bedeviling the area and to ease transportation constraints of the Legislative Arm.
The Chairman expressed delight for the love and passion that Governor Lalong have for the people of Jos East to have spared time out of his crowded schedules to come down to the hard to reach area to commission the heavy equipments as acquired by his administration.
He prayed for a brighter future for the Governor after his successful tenure and equally commiserated with his colleague, the Executive Chairman of Mangu Local Government Council and those who lost their beloved ones and properties.
In a vote of thanks Chairman Afizere Elders Council, Agwom Nyam Isha, while presenting a gift from hunters Association of the area, commended the doggedness of the Local Government Chairman for achieving much within short time and showered accolades on Governor Lalong for doing Afizere Nation proud by accepting to commission the projects irrespective of his tight engagements.
