Plateau Governorship: LP Candidate, Appreciate Supporters

The Governorship candidate of Labour Party at the just concluded elections in Plateau State, Dr. Patrick Sunday Dakum has appreciated all who believed and work for the party during the March 18, 2023 elections.

Dr. Dakum was speaking yesterday in an interaction with Journalists shortly after a thank you and an appraisal meeting with stakeholders of the Labour Party at his campaign office in Jos, the state capital.

He said the meeting was basically to thank all the party faithfuls and Plateau people that believed in the movement and assured them that their labour shall never be in vein. “So, the 60, 310 people that voted for the labour party shows that they are a third force in the Plateau and of course Nigeria” he said.

Dakum noted that they are also appraising their performance in the elections that took place for the Presidential, National Assembly, Governorship and the State Assembly elections, saying from the report they are getting shows there was a lot of problems.

He frowned at the  negative trend of evil propaganda that circulated the social media space in the build up to the governorship election, especially the forged letter of his withdrawal from the contest 24 hours to the governorship election among others.

“I did not stepped down for the PDP, I did not stepped down for the APC and I did not stepped down for any party, neither did I wrote any letter saying there is a merger between the Labour Party and any other party. So for people to forged my signature, for people to make propaganda against me and for people to make even the national chairman of our party signature, I think is evil and this is a crime” he said.

Speaking further on the propagandas that took center stage in the build up to the elections, Dakum said until sin is call sin by all stakeholders especially religious leaders, people will see it as a political process.

“For us to begin to right the wrong, our clergy, our leaders should call wrong for wrong and should require that people who do wrong should repent or be discipline accordingly. Unless we do that, people would think that is part of the political process to tell a lie on somebody.” He opined

He said he congratulated the PDP candidate, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang following the reports he received from the party’s situation room as a democrat.

While responding to a question on whether he will join hands with the governor elect for the progress of Plateau State since he had congratulated him, Dakum said whatever his party will do for the progress of Plateau State, he will definitely do it.

“As for the progress of Plateau State, why were we in the politics in the first place? We are in the politics because we want progress of Plateau, so would labour now come and take hammer and say because is not labour party lets break it? He added that any genuine labour party member would want Plateau State to progress but that would be the party’s decision and not Patrick Dakum to decide.”

He pledged to remain a faithful member of his party and would be consulting with the party on any decision for the progress of the party, State and the Nation at large.

The Governorship candidate said he was overwhelmed by the reception granted him when he reunited with staff at his work place and with the Sunday School Children of his class where he teaches Sunday School in his Church.
