Speakers of the 13 Local Government legislative councils and 147 ward councillors across Nasarawa State have pledged their support for the 2027 governorship ambition of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the APC governorship hopeful and incumbent Senator representing Nasarawa West at the 10th National Assembly.
The council legislators were inaugurated on Sunday in Keffi as Local Government and Ward Coordinators of the movement.
Speaking in separate interviews, the Chairman of the London Boy Movement, Hon. Steven Abrahim Nari, the Director General, Hon. Joseph Maiwada, and the Women Leader, Hon. Hadiza Aliyu Akwe, described Senator Wadada as the most qualified candidate to succeed Governor Abdullahi A. Sule.
Outlining the objectives of the group, Nari, who is also Special Assistant to the Governor on Political Matters, said the London Boy Movement was established earlier this year as an advocacy platform for Senator Wadada, inspired by his personality and political trajectory.
“Senator Wadada is well-exposed, widely travelled and highly experienced. Locally, he is deeply connected to the people, and internationally, he is a force to reckon with. That is why he is fondly called the ‘London Boy’, after whom this movement is named. Today marks the official inauguration of the London Boy Movement,” he stated.
On her part, the Women Leader, Hon. Hadiza Aliyu Akwe, who is Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Mobilisation, said the gathering was aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement with women across the three senatorial districts.
“This movement is all-encompassing. Women leaders from the 13 local government areas, including their zonal leaders, are here to witness the inauguration. Our mandate is clear: to mobilise women across the hinterlands for the actualisation of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s governorship ambition in 2027, and for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term,” she said.
Earlier, the Director General of the movement, Hon. Joseph Maiwada, noted that no serving council legislator was left out of the inauguration.
“We are here for the formal inauguration of the 13 local government legislative Speakers as LGA coordinators and the 147 councillors as ward coordinators across Nasarawa State. This is an organic gathering, a demonstration of genuine love for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and his leadership style. It is a reaffirmation of our collective resolve to stand with him, come rain or shine, as he seeks to succeed Governor A.A. Sule, having served eight years in the House of Representatives and now as a serving senator,” he added.
