Amidst the rising political tension and realignments in some quarters of the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) will retain Nasarawa State and form the next government.
This was the declaration of the Executive Chairman of Kokona Local Government Area, Honourable Agbawu Mek Agbawu , in a telephone interraction with our correspondent on Thursday.
According to him, the entire 13 Local Government Chairmen, under the leadership of the ALGON Chairman and Chairman of Akwanga LGA, Hon. Safiyanu Isa Andaha, are in total solidarity with Governor Abdullahi Sule’s choice of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu as the consensus candidate of the APC.
Hon, Agbawu maintained that, God willing, Senator Wadada remains the man to succeed Engineer Abdullahi Sule in the forthcoming 2027 governorship election.
“This position remains unwavering and sacrosanct. We are not shaken by whatever noise or whoever is clamouring for the position from other zones. What we are after is the stability and continuity of the state, not personal ambition.
“I, personally, will not jeopardize or attempt to thwart this rare opportunity coming to our zone, Nasarawa West Senatorial District, which has been patient for over 20 years now. So, it is left to anybody who thinks otherwise. What I will describe as God’s divine direction should not be resisted. Posterity will catch up with them, because in the near future when their own kinsman wants to canvass for a position, they will be reminded of the resistance shown by their parents or kinsmen,” he pointed out.
He further stated that Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has paid his dues in all ramifications. In terms of human capacity development, philanthropy, and legislative experience, the lawmaker is fit, capable, and prepared to lead the state successfully after Governor Abdullahi Sule completes his tenure on 29th May, 2027.
“As chairmen of local government areas in Nasarawa State, we are eagerly awaiting the swearing-in of Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, and by the grace of God, this transition will be processed seamlessly during and after the election,” he added.
