Former All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency, Chief Dr. John Tongshinen Gozhak, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for renewing the appointment of Dr. Pokop Bupwatda as Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Jos University Teaching Hospital (JUTH).
Gozhak described the reappointment as a recognition of competence, performance and Dr. Bupwatda’s contributions to the development of JUTH as a foremost tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria.
In a statement, Gozhak said Bupwatda’s first tenure witnessed concerted efforts to strengthen the capacity of JUTH through improvements in infrastructure, expansion of specialist services, modern surgical facilities and digital innovation.
He added that the administration also renewed attention to quality patient care, medical training and research, describing the developments as evidence of purposeful leadership.
According to Gozhak, “the true measure of institutional leadership goes beyond the number of projects commissioned, but includes the extent to which an institution becomes stronger, more capable and better positioned to serve the public.”
He noted that Bupwatda had provided JUTH with “a renewed sense of direction, ambition and institutional confidence,” adding that his reappointment represented both a vote of confidence in his performance and a fresh mandate to achieve more.
Gozhak expressed optimism that the renewed tenure would surpass the achievements recorded during the first term, particularly through the completion of ongoing projects and further improvements in healthcare delivery, teaching, research and innovation.
He urged stakeholders and staff of the institution to support the CMD in his renewed mandate, stressing that the continued development of JUTH would require collective commitment and effective collaboration.
“The mandate is renewed, the responsibility is greater and the possibilities are limitless,” Gozhak said.
He congratulated Dr. Bupwatda on his reappointment and wished him “greater grace, impact and service” as he begins his renewed tenure at the helm of JUTH.
