The Bala Wunti Support Organisation (BWSO) has inaugurated a seven-member Local Organising Committee to coordinate the maiden edition of the Bala Wunti Global Impact Day, a celebration dedicated to showcasing and amplifying the humanitarian legacy, community service and transformational contributions of Dr. Bala Maijama’a Wunti across Nigeria, Africa and beyond.
This was contained in a press statement by Kamal Ibrahim, Public Relations Officer, Bala Wunti Support Organisation.
The statement stated that the event is scheduled to hold on the 8th August, pointing out that Bala Wunti Global Impact Day is designed to celebrate Dr. Wunti’s enduring philanthropic investments in education, leadership development, mentorship, healthcare, agriculture, food security, women and youth empowerment, poverty reduction, cultural advancement and other life-changing interventions that have positively impacted countless communities.
The committee is chaired by the Chief Strategist Officer of BWSO, Malam Sagir Alkali with Ladan Salihu Kangere serving as Secretary. Other members are Sha’abdin Bello Zalanga, Abubakar Al-Sadique, Ishaq Yakubu Marafa, Babayo Bello and Kamal Ibrahim.
Speaking during the inauguration, the Chief Executive Officer of BWSO, Malam Mukhtar Ahmed Jarmajo, described Bala Wunti Global Impact Day as a strategic platform for celebrating selfless leadership, inspiring volunteerism and promoting the values of service to humanity exemplified by Dr. Bala Wunti. “The initiative would institutionalise a culture of recognising individuals whose investments continue to transform lives and communities.”
Jarmajo urged the committee to approach the assignment with commitment, innovation and professionalism, stressing that the maiden edition must establish a strong foundation for an annual event capable of attracting national and international participation while projecting the humanitarian ideals of Dr. Wunti to a wider audience.
Responding, on behalf of the committee, Chairman Malam Sagir Alkali expressed appreciation to the leadership of BWSO for the confidence reposed in the committee, assuring that members would discharge their responsibilities with diligence, transparency and a clear sense of purpose to deliver a memorable and impactful event.
The committee’s terms of reference include developing a comprehensive programme for the 2026 celebration, proposing an appropriate theme and objectives, preparing an implementation plan and budget, coordinating stakeholders and partner organisations, designing a robust publicity strategy, recommending impactful activities such as public lectures, medical outreach, environmental sanitation, community development projects, youth engagement, media campaigns and recognition awards, as well as developing protocols for dignitaries, volunteers and guests.
