Burning brooms will not reduce APC’s relevance-Nasarawa Party Chairman

The Nasarawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), says burning of brooms by dissenting groups would not affect the party’s relevance and grassroots support ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The reaction followed the recent rally and burning of brooms in Gayam Electoral Ward of Lafia, and other parts of the state by aggrieved supporters of the Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abubakar Adamu.

The former IGP lost the recent governorship primaries of the APC to Sen. Ahmed Wadada, the preferred candidate of Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

The supporters of APC therefore organised a counter rally in the Gayam Ward where they said they swept and washed the dirty spread in the area by the aggrieved members.

Speaking at the sweeping and washing ceremony, Aliyu Bello, State APC Chairman said that the act was a mere political drama that cannot erase the party’s track record.

Bello explained that he was very sure that brooms were being used every day in sweeping the houses of those involved in burning brooms in the area, so who are they deceiving?

“Brooms can be burnt, but the achievements and impacts of our party in the state and the ideology behind the broom cannot be burnt.

“APC’s relevance in Nasarawa State is built on the massive infrastructural development, peaceful coexistence, massive employment, youths empowerment and women inclusion delivered by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.

“It is also built on the massive federal government presence delivered by President Bola Tinubu and that is what the people vote for, not just a symbol,” he added.

The APC Chairman cautioned people in the area against divisive politics and sentiments being promoted by some politicians simply because they did not win the election.

Bello challenged those burning brooms to present their scorecards of what they did to the people in the area and the state when they had the opportunity in the past.

Also speaking, Uba Arikya, Deputy Chairman of Lafia Local Government Area said that even a blind man knows that the state has changed under Gov. Sule.

He explained that politics should be about good governance and benefits that have a direct bearing on the lives of the people and not by organising rallies and insulting people and inciting the public for selfish reasons.

Arikya therefore, said that Gov. Sule is the leader of the party in the state and any candidate the governor presents to them they would ensure to deliver the person or persons to the polls.

On his part, Sidi Ndagi, APC Chieftain in the area urged the people to vote for all candidates of the party from the president to the least position in the 2027 election.

He therefore commended Gov Sule for his developmental strides and urged him to be focused on delivering more infrastructure and not to be distracted by unserious politicians who do not mean well for the state.

The rally which featured sweeping and washing of streets in the area, had in attendance thousands of APC supporters from Gayam Electoral Ward carrying party banners, posters, and brooms. (NAN).
