Bauchi APC Silence After Journalist’s Car Was Stolen at State Congress

By Suzan Edeh, Bauchi

Three months after a journalist’s vehicle was stolen while he was covering an official assignment, the Bauchi State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has come under scrutiny for its total silence and failure to offer sympathy or compensation.

The victim, Mr. Khalid Idris Doya, a Bauchi State correspondent for Leadership Newspapers, reported that his vehicle was stolen on March 3, 2026, during the APC State Congress.

According to Doya, he attended the event following an official invitation by the party leadership to provide media coverage.

He parked his 2004 Pontiac Vibe within the vicinity of the “Next Level” APC State Secretariat along Maiduguri Road in Bauchi.

“The vehicle was parked within the vicinity of the venue between 4:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. while the congress was ongoing”.

“Regrettably, due to the crowd that gathered at the Congress venue, some unknown individuals stole the vehicle” Doya said.

The missing vehicle is described as a 2004 Pontiac Vibe with registration plate number BAU-100HB and chassis number 5Y2SL62833Z408918.

Following the incident, the journalist formally lodged a complaint with the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at the ‘A’ Division Central Market station.

However, despite law enforcement efforts, security authorities have not yet located the vehicle or identified any suspects.

Doya confirmed that he has officially notified the APC leadership of the theft through both verbal communication and written correspondence.

Despite these efforts, the ruling party has yet to issue a formal message of sympathy or offer any form of compensation to the reporter.
