Nasarawa NUJ Election: Breeze FM Boss Urges Journalists to Embrace Unity, Issue-Based Campaigns

The Head of Station, Breeze FM Lafia, Mr. Ibrahim Tanko, has called on journalists in Nasarawa State to remain united and see themselves as one family, irrespective of differences, ahead of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) state council election scheduled for July 20, 2026.

Tanko made the call when a chairmanship aspirant for the NUJ election, Mr. Sunday John, and his campaign team paid a courtesy visit to the Breeze FM station in Lafia.

He urged journalists across the state to promote unity and conduct issue-based campaigns to ensure a peaceful and credible election process.

The Breeze FM station manager advised Sunday John’s campaign team to carry out their activities peacefully and refrain from making defamatory statements against other aspirants, noting that journalists are agenda-setters and role models in society.

Tanko also stressed the need to sustain the legacy projects initiated by the current NUJ State Chairman, Mr. Salihu Alkali, after the expiration of his tenure.

Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of Sunday John’s Campaign Team, Mr. Isaac Upkoju, appealed to members of the Breeze FM Chapel to support their candidate, citing his wealth of experience and commitment to advancing the welfare and development of journalists in the state.

In his remarks, the NUJ chairmanship aspirant, Mr. Sunday John, unveiled his blueprint for the union, with particular emphasis on improving the welfare and professional development of journalists in Nasarawa State.

Responding on behalf of the chapel, the Chairman of the NUJ Breeze FM Chapel, Mr. Muhammad Iliyasu Garba, commended Sunday John and his campaign team for the visit and assured them of the chapel’s continued support as they pursue their ambition in the forthcoming council election.
