Nasarawa ADC inaugurates reconciliation committees to tackle rifts from primaries

The Nasarawa State chapter of the African Democratic Party (ADC) on Tuesday inaugurated reconciliation committees to settle aggrieved aspirants who did not secure the party’s ticket in the just-concluded primaries.

Speaking during the inauguration, Mike Abdul, State Chairman of the party highlighted that the committees were set up to heal wounds and foster unity ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He noted that while primaries are a test of strength to produce flag bearers, the process often leaves rifts that must be addressed.

“The fallout we witnessed was not unusual in politics. What will define us is how we respond. A house divided cannot stand and a party divided cannot win election.

“That is why, after wide consultations, the leadership deemed it necessary to constitute reconciliation committees to foster unity and heal existing rifts,” he added.

Abdul explained that various committees are inaugurated to handle disputes involving governorship, Senate, and House of Representatives aspirants.

He further noted that the party also have Zonal committees at the Nasarawa North, Nasarawa South and Nasarawa West Senatorial Districts to reach out to aggrieved house of assembly aspirants from the various constituencies in their respective zones.

The ADC Chairman appealed to all contestants who lost to shelve their grievances, stressing that “no ambition is worth the destruction of the platform that can deliver their collective dream for a new Nasarawa State.

Responding on behalf of the committees, Barr. Musa Elayo, expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party confidence reposed on them and pledged to discharge their duties with every sense of responsibility to ensure that the party is better off.

“Our mandate is peace, unity, and victory for ADC in the 2027 general election in Nasarawa State,” he said. (NAN).
