COCIN Elects New Vice President, General Secretary at 109th GCC

The Church of Christ in Nations, COCIN has elected new Vice President and General Secretary at its 109 General Church Council meeting.

The election was conducted at the concluding part of the meeting on Friday in Jos, the headquarters of the Church.

Rev. Associate Professor Benjamin Pokol who is the current General Secretary, was elected to the position of the Church Vice President as his first tenure of 5 years comes to an end.

He was elected Vice President with a total votes of 239 ahead of Rev. James Ayizeh, the Director of Church Growth who pulled 68 votes out of the 305 total vote cast.

Also, Rev. Dinfa Mamshal, the current Deputy General Secretary was elected to the position of the General Secretary with a total votes of 181 ahead of Rev. Sylvester Dachomo, the current Chairman of the Regional Church Council, RCC Du who got 127 votes.

The election of the Deputy General Secretary to the position of General Secretary, has again created another vacuum in the Church leadership.

The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Electoral Committee, Justice Daniel Longji in his remarks before the election said it is the grace of God to be saddled with such serious responsibility and expressed confidence that the will of God will be made manifest in the election. Other members of the committee include, Hon. Johnson Chollom and Mr. Rike.
