The Provost of Aminu Saleh College of Education Azare, Professor Asabe Sadiya Mohammed, has lauded the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, for approving the commencement of processes for the implementation of the dual mandate system in the institution.
This was contained in a statement signed by Suleiman Shehu, Deputy Registrar, Information, Protocol and Linkages, and made available to journalists in Bauchi.
According to the Provost, Governor Bala Mohammed approved that the proposed law for the implementation of the dual mandate be forwarded for legislative action after undergoing legal review and necessary inputs by the Ministry of Justice.
She explained that the bill had already been transmitted to the Bauchi State House of Assembly, where it successfully passed first and second readings, while the third reading is expected when the House resumes plenary.
Professor Mohammed described the development as a major milestone toward strengthening tertiary education in the state, aligning the College with the guidelines of the National Commission for Colleges of Education for the concurrent award of NCE and Degree certificates.
Addressing staff and stakeholders of the institution, the Provost said the support demonstrated by both the State Government and the Assembly reflected a strong commitment to repositioning tertiary education in line with national and global best practices.
She noted that the implementation of the dual mandate would enhance the College’s capacity to combine academic excellence with professional teacher training responsibilities, thereby improving institutional growth and service delivery.
Professor Mohammed also commended the Bauchi State House of Assembly and its Committee on Education for their cooperation during the legislative review process.
She further praised Governor Bala Mohammed’s administration for sustained investments in accreditation, infrastructure, staff welfare and educational reforms.
She disclosed that the College had secured full accreditation for its 27 NCE programmes and 13 undergraduate programmes affiliated with University of Maiduguri.
The Provost assured the people of Bauchi State of the institution’s commitment to excellence and called on staff, students and stakeholders to support the successful implementation of the dual mandate initiative.
