Dr Cyril Tsenyil, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the North Central Development Commission (NCDC), has reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to working with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to address security challenges in the North Central region.
Tsenyil stated this during a courtesy visit by officials of the Nasarawa State Command of the NSCDC to the headquarters of the commission on Friday in Lafia.
He commended the corps for its support and cooperation since the establishment of the commission, describing the relationship between both organisations as cordial and productive.
The NCDC boss praised the dedication, professionalism and commitment of the NSCDC, noting that the commission held the security outfit in high esteem.
According to him, security remains critical to the successful implementation of development projects and programmes across the region.
“As the commission expands its operations and activities within the North Central zone, there will be greater need for closer collaboration with the NSCDC, particularly in addressing insecurity and protecting projects, facilities and other development initiatives,” he said.
Earlier, Samson Omatu, the Nasarawa State Commandant of the NSCDC, said the visit was to reciprocate an earlier visit by the management of the NCDC to the command and to further strengthen institutional ties.
Omaru expressed delight that the commission had identified the NSCDC as a key partner in its developmental efforts, assuring the commission of the corps’ continued support in achieving its mandate.
He reaffirmed the readiness of the NSCDC to ensure the success of the commission through sustained collaboration, professionalism and its mandate of protecting critical national infrastructure and assets.
The commandant also stressed the importance of security to sustainable growth and development.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the visit was attended by top officials of the commission, including the Executive Director, Administration and Human Resources, Hajiya Biqis Jumoke Sani, and the Executive Director, Corporate Affairs, Mr James Abel Uloko, among others. (NAN)
