The Bauchi State Chapter of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) has reaffirmed its loyalty to Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as the legitimate National Chairman, following a March 27, 2026, Court of Appeal ruling that nullified claims by Sadiq Gombe.
This was contained in a press statement signed by the State Chairman of the party, Hon. Nairy Husaini and made available to journalists in Bauchi.
The state chapter disowned the Gombe faction,
citing the ruling and INEC’s updated records as confirmation of the Gabam-led National Working Committee as the only legally recognized leadership.
According to the release, the State Chapter of the party is fully aligned with the Shehu Musa Gabam-led National Working Committee (NWC) as the only structure recognized by law.
Disowning Sadiq Gombe, the party declared that Sadiq Gombe has no legal authority to act or make decisions on behalf of the party, describing his claims as void.
The statement referenced the Court of Appeal’s decision nullifying the previous recognition of Sadiq Gombe and confirming Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as the authentic national leader.
“We wish to state unequivocally that our loyalty lies solely with the Social Democratic Party and its leadership as duly recognized by law and the relevant constitutional authorities.
“The Bauchi State Chapter is not aligned with any individual, faction, or group outside the legally recognized framework of the party. We are not aware of, nor party to, any arrangement, negotiation, or understanding entered into by any person or group on behalf of the Chapter”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, a court of competent jurisdiction has nullified the claims of Sadiq Gombe and affirmed Alhaji Shehu Musa Gabam as the substantive and duly elected National Chairman of the SDP. Consequently, Sadiq Gombe lacks the legal authority to represent the party in any capacity. Any decision, transaction, or commitment made by him in the name of the party is null and void” The statement read in parts.
The party urged members, supporters, and the general public to disregard any claims or unauthorized arrangements by other factions.
