The Nasarawa State Chapter of the People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) has appointed Dr. Joel Gimba Daniel as it new chairman following the suspension of Alhaji Adamu Ninga for anti party activities few weeks ago.
Rising from it State Executive Committee Meeting at the State party secretariat in Lafia, the State Secretary of the party Engr. Kefas Kaura said that following a fruitful long deliberations, they have endorsed the new chairman, who had an overwhelming support and recommendations from Akwanga his local government area.
“Our new chairman is Dr. Joel Gimba, he is an academic Doctor, a diplomat and a diehard PDP person, he has worked, we have seen him and Akwanga has recommended and virtually everybody within Akwanga has recommended and endorsed him” he said.
The state party secretary, stated that the PDP in the state was engulfed with some issues that led to the suspension of it chairman, Alh. Adamu Ninga in line with the constitution of the party and has been replaced today in accordance with the PDP constitution as amended 2017.
“We took up a constitutional provisions, we suspended him, a committee was setup, they came out with their recommendations, it was based on the recommendations there was a need to replace him and not expel him from the party he is still a party member but he has been removed from his position” he affirms .
According to him, the executive committee meeting was to get approval before taking it for ratification at the National Executive Committee (NEC).
He expressed optimism that assumption of duty by the chairman will bring more visibility to the party as the party will begin to see more positive changes.
” PDP will get back to the light and we will see the light at the end of the tunnel 2027″
“We are guided by the constitution and we have legal experts and we are all guided we took every steps constitutionally, so many sections were invoked into play for the realization of this dream today, so I want assure you that they was no part of the constitution that has to do with the replacement that was not followed” he emphasised.
He further explained that the suspended Chairman had refused to appear before disciplinary committee , who were given four weeks to complete their assignment but since he refused to appear before the committee, they were left with no option than to seek for his replacement as his failure to attend connotes admittance of guilt.
Adamu Ninga was said to have been suspended following series of complaints bordering on alleged unilateral decisions, poor leadership style, and actions considered detrimental to the unity and progress of the party in the state.
In his remarks, the former acting chairman and now the present deputy Chairman, Hon. Zachariah Daniel, welcomed the development, describing it as a step towards positioning the party.
Accepting his new position, the chairman chairman, Dr. Joel Gimba Daniel, declared that the PDP in Nasarawa State had “fully regained its footing” and ready to reclaim power from the ruling party in 2027.
“Today is the day the PDP in Nasarawa State has come back to its feet. Our focus is not on the past but on how to move forward and reconnect with our people across all the wards and villages,” he said.
According to him, efforts would be intensified to mobilise members and reconcile aggrieved stakeholders.
“My message is to awaken our members from slumber. It is time to go to the field and begin mobilisation. I have mapped out strategies to deploy reconciliation mechanisms from the ward to the national level. I assure you that those who left the party will return before the next general election,” he said.
Daniel expressed confidence that the PDP would emerge victorious in the 2027 governorship election.
Meanwhile the ousted former Chairman of the PDP in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Adamu Ninga, is said to have lef for an disclosed political party, where his interest will be protected.
