The All Progressives Congress (APC), National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda has expressed strong support for women seeking elective positions ahead of the 2027 general elections, following a meeting with female aspirants under the Forum of 2027 APC Female Aspirants Network (FAFAN).
The meeting, held at the party leader’s office in Abuja, brought together women from across the country who are contesting for various political offices in their respective states.
Prof. Yilwatda a statement issued after the engagement on Wednesday on his verified Facebook account, described the meeting as inspiring, noting the “remarkable number, quality, and courage” of the women. He added that it marked a proud moment for the party to showcase a credible pool of female leaders ready to contribute to national development.
He acknowledged the growing role of women in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape, emphasizing that their contributions remain highly valued within the party.

The leader also commended the aspirants for their endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the APC leadership, describing the gesture as a reinforcement of the party’s shared vision ahead of its convention.
Reiterating his stance on inclusivity, he stressed that true federal character must reflect gender balance, noting that women are not just participants in democracy but key drivers of transformation.
“Women’s resilience, creativity, and unmatched ability to mobilize and manage make them indispensable to governance and nation-building,” he stated.
He further assured that the APC remains committed to expanding opportunities for women through policies that promote their economic, educational, and political empowerment.
Encouraging the aspirants, he urged them to remain united, organized, and focused, while mobilizing support across their networks.
“They are not just running, they are running to win,” he said, expressing confidence that a more inclusive and progressive APC would emerge stronger ahead of the 2027 elections.
