A cross section of youths in Nasarawa State has protested the removal of billboards bearing the image of Bola Ahmed Tinubu from major roads and streets in Lafia, the state capital.
The spokesperson for the protesting youths, Comrade Isa Nathaniel, during a press briefing in Lafia, described the action by the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency as strange and counterproductive.
He explained that most of the posters and billboards were erected by politicians as a show of solidarity to welcome the President during his official visit to the state in June 2025.
Comrade Isa Nathaniel noted that the billboards remained in place until February 2026, when officials of the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency, backed by security personnel, began a clampdown on posters displaying the President’s image.
He alleged that the exercise targeted billboards produced by some notable politicians, including former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu retired, who he claimed were not in the good books of the state government.
He expressed concern that the removal of the billboards occurred just days after the state government organised a mega rally for the President in solidarity with his policies and the achievements of his administration.
Reacting to the development, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nasarawa Urban Development Agency, Mohammed Wada, said the billboards and posters were installed without authorisation. (Radio Nigeria)
