Mewar International University matriculates 487 students, launches oil palm initiative

Nasarawa, Nigeria – Mewar International University, Masaka, Nasarawa State, has matriculated 487 students for the 2025/2026 academic session.

The Vice-Chancellor, Mr Muhammad Tanko, disclosed this at the university’s matriculation ceremony on Thursday in Karu Local Government Area.

Tanko, who was represented by the Pro-Chancellor, Engr. Abubakar Bello, congratulated the students on securing admission and urged them to embrace discipline and pursue their studies diligently.

He said that the students were admitted into various faculties, including the Faculty of Sciences, which has 58 students in Computer Science, 94 in Cyber Security, 53 in Software Engineering and 34 in Biotechnology.

According to him, the Faculty of Management and Social Sciences admitted 14 students into Public Administration, 16 into Entrepreneurship, 27 into International Relations, 21 into Accounting and 12 into Economics, while 50 students were admitted into the Faculty of Law.

He added that 21 students were distributed across departments such as Procurement, Political Science, Sociology and Banking and Finance.

The vice-chancellor advised the students to maintain good character and moral conduct, stressing that the institution was committed to producing quality graduates capable of becoming future leaders.

“Make the most of this opportunity, be disciplined in conduct, bold in vision and steadfast in character.

“You have worked hard to get here and today you officially become members of Mewar International University.

“The future belongs to those who work for it today; the world is waiting for your ideas, your solutions and your leadership,” he said.

He assured parents and guardians of the university’s commitment to providing a safe, supportive and intellectually stimulating environment for their children.

Tanko said that the institution was also exploring agricultural initiatives, particularly in palm oil production, as part of efforts to tackle unemployment and promote development in northern Nigeria.

According to him, the university has cleared more than 5,000 hectares for cultivation, planted over one million palm trees as part of the initiative. (NAN)
