Gov Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has commended the Chairman of Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board (NSUBEB), Dr Kassim Muhammed-Kassim, for excellent service delivery in the education sector.

Sule stated this in a letter presented to Kassim on his behalf by Dr Labaran Magaji, the Secretary to the Nasarawa State Government on Tuesday in Lafia.

Gov Sule hailed the commitment and outstanding performance of the Chairman, Kassim, since the assumption of office as the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.

He described the NSUBEB Chairman as a highly focused and dedicated personality who came with a clear definition of what he intends to achieve in the education sector.

The Governor particularly applauded Kassim’s regular monitoring and supervision of projects, as well as physical visits to primary and junior secondary schools to ascertain a level of commitment to work by teachers.

He noted that such an act not only strengthened teaching and learning in schools but also motivated teachers to be more dedicated to their assigned responsibilities.

“I commend you for the outstanding performance you have continued to display since you assumed office as the Executive Chairman of the Nasarawa State Universal Basic Education Board.

” It is worthy of note that since you assumed duty, you have remained committed to ensuring the realisation of the objectives of the Board.

“This is in tandem with our resolve to uplift the standard of education in our dear state, especially the primary and junior secondary being the foundation of our education,” Sule said.

Sule encouraged Kassim to sustain the tempo in the best interest of the children and Nasarawa state.

Responding, the NSUBEB Chairman, Dr Kassim Mohammad-Kassim, expressed gratitude to the governor and the entire state leadership for the recognition, describing it as both humbling and motivating.

“Sincerely, I am overwhelmed. I want to thank the entire management team of NSUBEB and appreciate His Excellency, Abdullahi Sule, for his support and for recognizing our efforts,” Kassim said.

He attributed the achievement to collective effort and outlined key reforms undertaken within six months of assuming office, including the redeployment of teachers from offices to schools and improved project monitoring.

“We discovered about 4,000 qualified teachers posted to offices. So far, we have redeployed 1,009 back to classrooms, and plans are underway to redeploy another 1,000,” he said.

Kassim disclosed that the governor has also approved the recruitment of 1,000 additional teachers, largely to serve rural communities where shortages are most acute.

“We see these as rural teachers, and we are appealing for special allowances to motivate those willing to serve in hard-to-reach areas,” he said.

He reaffirmed NSUBEB’s commitment to revitalizing basic education in the state, noting that sustainable development must begin with a solid educational foundation. (NAN)
