A stakeholder in Bauchi State, Dan Malikin Bauchi, Alhaji Aminu Mohammed has condemned calls Nigerian Christian activists to abolish Sharia law in Nigeria.

Mohammed stated this while addressing a press conference in his office in Bauchi.

He stated that Shariah law does not threaten the unity of the country, stressing that the greatness of Shariah lies not merely in its judicial rules, but in its universal moral and legal principles which include justice, equity. due process, protection of life, property, and dignity, checks on ruler’s power, fair commercial relations and rights of the weak against the strong.

According to him, the recent attempt a group of Nigerian Christian activists to discredit the practice of Shariah law before a joint session of the American Congress was unacceptable, pointing out that much of the argument was driven unfounded fear, misinformation, or political interest and emotion rather than history, fact, or lived reality.

“May I on behalf of the practicing Nigerian Muslims who are the absolute majority in the country, totally condemned this singular act the Christians who are now determined to cause a serious rift between the Muslims and Christians”.

“Not too long ago the Christian went to the same congress in the US and lied to them that there is genocide going on in Nigeria against the Christian minority. While they have failed in this attempt to set Nigerian Muslims against the world over their phantom allegation of genocide they will also failed in the Christians crusade against Islam and its Sharia Law in Nigeria”.

“Let the Christians know that we Muslims shall never accept a governance in Nigeria without the Shariah Law that has nothing to do with the Christians, a right duly
enshrined in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Let me enlighten the Christian crusaders the crucial truth that cannot be ignored”.

“Shariah law, as practiced in Northern Nigeria, is not a threat to any non-Muslim.It is a proven, humane, rights-based legal tradition whose influence shaped not only the Muslim world, but the Western world, including the very foundations of English and American common law” he said

Mohammed maintained that Shariah law applies only to Muslims, and is guaranteed the Constitution, and has been recognized the U.S. Supreme Court and Congress as a respected legal system.

Dan Malikin Bauchi called for respect, knowledge, and balance in understanding Shariah law, emphasizing its constitutional right, proven record of justice, and contribution to global peace and civilization.
