As part of plans to sanitise the health sector, Niger state government has warned that it will henceforth any officers incharge of primary health care facilities that fails to report at facilities will be sanctioned.
While sounding this warning at a one Day Media briefing organised Martval Unyi Odey Mother and Child Care Initiative with support from ACOMIN in Minna, the Director, Health Facilities, Ministry of Primary Health Care, Shehu Maidawa said the warning is coming as a result of the lackadaisical attitude of some health workers.
According to Maidawa “the state government has done so much in engaging more health workers but the attitude of some of them will not be accepted.
“We have been receiving reports of health workers attitudes, and henceforth it is the officers incharge that we will penalize especially those ones who fail to resume at their facilities.”

He then advised that healthcare services and commodities especially those to be administered freely be provided to patients whenever they visit facilities.
Earlier, the Programme Officer, Martval Unyi Odey Mother and Child Care Initiative, Christiana Odey reeled out achievements in various facilities, adding that “the Initiative was able to help facilities get pipe borne water for the Primary Health Care in Shango.”
Furthermore, she said efforts are being made to transform these facilities into reliable centers of care and the Initiative remains committed to supporting these efforts and empower communities.
