
Nasarawa United Football Club of Lafia secured a convincing 3-0 win over Elkanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in their Matchday 14 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match, played at the Lafia Township Stadium on Sunday, saw Nasarawa United’s determination pay off as they secured all three points.
Anas Yusuf netted the first and second goals of the match for the solid miners in the 38th and 46th minutes of the game, while Garba Mohammed sealed the game with the third goal in the 48th minute to give the Lafia site all the points.
This win marked a significant turnaround for the Nasarawa site, which had previously dropped from the league table.
With this victory, solid miners returned to the top of the NPFL table with 27 points, while Ellkanemi Warriors are in 12th place with 18 points.
In a post-match interview, the Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Utd, Mbwas Mangut, expressed joy at getting maximum points in the game.
Mangut said that the team had tried something different by circulating the ball and it paid off for them
“We will approach every game with a sense of seriousness and dedication to win and maintain our standing in the league table,” Mangut added.
On his part, Kabiru Dogo, Technical Adviser of Elkanemi Warriors, said that the game was one of their worst games in the season so far.
He explained that football sometimes is like that, but added that the NPFL is a marathon and said that they would do their best to win the other matches to emerge as winners at the end of the league. (NAN).
