The North Central Development Commission (NCDC) has expressed sadness over recent attacks on communities in Kwara and Niger States, describing the incidents as disturbing and unfortunate.
Dr Cyril Tsenyil, Managing Director of the Commission, stated this in a message issued on behalf of the Board and Management on Saturday in Lafia.
He said the attacks were a setback to peace, stability and development in the two states and the North Central region.
Tsenyil condemned the terrorist attack on Eruku community in Kwara, noting that such violence threatened ongoing development efforts and disrupted socio-economic activities.
He also decried the abduction of an unspecified number of students and pupils of St. Mary’s Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools, Agwara, Niger State.
According to him, the incident would adversely affect educational development and undermine efforts to improve school enrollment and expand opportunities for young people in the state.
The NCDC boss commiserated with the governments and people of both states, as well as families of the victims, and reaffirmed the Commission’s commitment to supporting initiatives that strengthen security and promote peace in the North Central zone.
He urged residents to support security agencies with timely and useful information to help prevent further attacks, aid rescue efforts and ensure perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice. (NAN).
