Nasarawa United Football Club has bounced back from two consecutive losses with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Remo Stars in their Matchday 11 fixture of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The match, played at the Lafia Township Stadium on Thursday, saw Nasarawa United’s determination pay off as they secured all three points.
Michael Ibrahim netted the first goal of the match for the visiting team in five minutes into the game, but John Joshua equalised for the home team, and Jofrank Istifanus’ goal in 79 minutes sealed the win for the Solid Miners.
This win marked a significant turnaround for the Nasarawa site, which had previously dropped from the league table.
With this victory, solid miners returned to the top of the NPFL table with 22 points, while Remo Stars remained in 17th place with 10 points.
In a post-match interview, the Technical Adviser of Nasarawa Utd, Mbwas Mangut, expressed joy for getting maximum points in the game after their two losses in the previous league matches.
Mangut said that the league is getting difficult, and every team is improving.
He added that the technical team is working hard to maintain the standard of the level they have taken the Nasarawa site to.
“We will approach every game with a sense of seriousness and dedication to win and maintain our standing in the league table,” Mangut added.
On his part, Suleiman Kamil, Assistant Coach of Remo Stars, said that the team is trying to get back to their best, but unfortunately lost the game to Solid Miners.
He explained that football sometimes is like that, but added that the NPFL is a marathon and said that they would do their best to win the other matches to emerge winners at the end of the league. (NAN)
