A suspected member of the dreaded political thuggery group in Bauchi State popularly known as Sara-Suka, Ahmad Lawan, aged 29, AKA Soje, of Sabon Kasuwa area of Bauchi metropolis, has been stabbed to death.
According to reports, he was attacked in his room by suspected members of the rival group, who stabbed him until he became unconscious and later died.
The State Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, CSP Mohammed Ahmed Wakil confirmed the killing of Ahmed Lawan via a press statement in Bauchi.
“On 2nd October 2025, at about 0825hrs, a case of culpable homicide was reported at D’ Divisional Police Headquarters by a good Samaritan alleging that two individuals went to the residence of Ahmad Lawan, aged 29, AKA Soje, of Sabon Kasuwa, an alleged renowned Sara-suka member, knocked his door, and upon his response, they stabbed him in the chest region and fled to an unknown location.”
”Upon receiving the report, operatives attached to D’ Division, led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), CSP Mubarak Sani Baba, swiftly mobilised to the scene and evacuated the victim to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, where he was unfortunately confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpse was thereafter released to the family for burial according to the Islamic rites.”
“Preliminary investigation discovered the involvement of Abubakar Ibrahim (AKA Duduwa) and Abubakar Mohammed as the prime suspects.Subsequent to the burial, a group of angry youths launched a reprisal attack by setting fire to the family house of one of the suspects”.
“However, a combined team of operatives from the Rapid Response Squads (RRS), Operation Restore Peace (ORP) and the D’ Division responded promptly to mitigate and prevent further escalations”.
“More so, one of the suspects, Abubakar Ibrahim AKA Duduwa, initially fled to an unknown destination, and later in the day, he was sighted roaming about at Mararraban Liman-Katagum and apprehended by quasi-security members”.
“While transporting the suspect to the Police station, they were intercepted by irate youths at Kwanar Kwaila, where the suspect was attacked with cutlasses. As a result, he sustained fractures to both hands and a deep cut on his head”.
“Upon receiving the distress call, Police operatives quickly mobilised to the scene and dispersed the hostile crowd, promptly rescued the suspect and thereafter evacuated him to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital (ATBUTH), Bauchi, for medical attention” Wakil said.
Meanwhile,eleven suspects were arrested in connection with the crime, they are: Abdulwahab Adamu, 25 years, behind NITEL Quarters, Gombe Road, Bauchi,
Nuruddeen Idris, 21 years, Jahun area Bauchi, Kabiru Saidu, 25 years, Kasuwan Dorowa, Jahun area Bauchi, Ibrahim Hamza, 22 year, Kasuwan Dorowa, Jahun area of Bauchi and Abdullahi Isah, 21 years, Abuja House area of Bauchi.
Others are: Abdulrasheed Garba, 25 years, Nasarawa, Jahun area of Bauchi, Abdulwahab Abubakar, 25 years, of Jaja area Bauchi, Kabiru Muhammad 27 years, Wayan Makafi area Bauchi, Musa Abdullahi 24 years, of Wayan Makafi area Bauchi, Umar Muhammad, 25 years, of Wayan Makafi area Bauchi and Umar Ali, 27 years, of Unguwan Kur Area, Bauchi.
The PPRO stated that they are all undergoing thorough investigation to determine their level of involvement while efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing accomplices.
“Finally, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sani-Omolori Aliyu, warns parents, Guardians, and leaders wielding various degrees of influence to prevail on their wards and proteges against being used as cannon-fodder in disrupting the relative peace enjoyed in the State.”
”The Command will not hesitate to decisively deal with any person(s) or group(s) who deliberately cause the breakdown of law and order in whatever manner.”
“Those in violation will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law, as the Command has deployed tactical teams strategically and directed them to ensure full enforcement.” The statement read
