NPHCDA Donates N300m worth medical equipment to FUTH Lafia

The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has donated essential medical equipment and consumables worth over N300 million to the Federal University Teaching Hospital (FUTH) Lafia to ensure quality and affordable healthcare services.

This is contained in a statement signed Mrs Ruth Namo, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the hospital and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Lafia, Nasarawa State.

The PRO stated that the State Coordinator of NPHCDA in the state, Mrs Beatrice Samuel-Ose, presented the items to the hospital management.

She quoted the State Coordinator of NPHCDA that the donation was necessary to complement the hospital in its effort to deliver quality and affordable health care services to the people, especially women and children through the CeMONC programme.

Namo explained that various departments benefited from this gesture to strengthen their capacities for healthcare delivery.

“Obstetrics and Gynaecology care, received suction machines, delivery beds, radiant warmer/resuscitaires, ba weighing scales, foetal taco-cardiograph, autoclaves, infusion pumps, angle poised lamps, foetal monitors.

“The Theatre Unit got LED theatre lights, operating tables, diathermy machines, anaesthetic machines, power back up (6kva power capacity),100 and 150L capacity Autoclaves, suction machines, multi-parameter patient monitor among others.

“Neonatal and Paediatric care were given incubators, neonatal monitors, neonatal ventilators, oxygen cylinders and delivery systems, neonatal suction machines, phototherapy machines, syringe pump, bilirubin meter and others.

“Laboratory benefited automated blood refrigerator, haematology analyser, microscopes, blood grouping and cross-matching machines, haemoglobinometer, thermometers, glucometers, an Automated biochemistry analyser, centrifuge (24 buckets).

“Others are spectrophotometers,
Automated biochemistry analyser, centrifuge (24 buckets), spectrophotometer, water distiller, water deionizer, thermometers, blood gas analyser, manual urinalysis equipment among other machines,” she added.

The image maker of the hospital further said that the laboratory department also got rapid test kits, urine pregnancy test kits, blood collection tubes and needles, and biohazard waste disposal bags.

The PRO noted that the equipment and consumables would in no small measure contribute to enhancing the delivery of quality health care services the hospital.

She therefore, said that it would position the hospital for excellent training of both undergraduate and postgraduate students while positioning her for groundbreaking research within the facility.

Namo also convey that Dr Hassan Ikrama, Chief Medical Director of the hospital expressed profound appreciation to the PHCDA for the gesture.

She added that the CMD said the gesture would go a long way in positioning the young hospital to meet its corporate mandate of service delivery, quality research and training of healthcare workers in the state

She therefore, assured the donor that the items would be put to judicious use for the benefit of the public.

She further restated the determination of the institution to work towards becoming one of the foremost health care training institutions in the region and the country at large. NAN).
