Gov Sule urge corps members to explore opportunities in Nasarawa

Keffi (Nasarawa state) Oct. 14, 2025. (NAN) Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa state has urged 2088 National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) corps members posted to the state to tap into opportunities available in the state.

He stated this at the closing ceremony of the orientation exercise for the 2025 Batch B stream II set deployed to the state at the Magaji Dan Yamusa NYSC Permanent orientation camp in Keffi local government area on Tuesday.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor was represented Mr Yakubu Kwanta, Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development.

In his address, the governor congratulated the corps members for achievinh a hitch free orientation exercise and urged them to carry the torch of inspiration as they step into the next phase of the service year.

Sule then informed the corps members that Nasarawa State is richly blessed with mineral resources and fertile and ideal for a wide range of crops there making agriculture profitable and the mainstay of the state’s economy.

He said these “gifts from nature provide enormous opportunities” hence the call to the corps members to be curious, recognize the opportunities in the various localities they will be posted to and tap into them.

“I hope you will recognize these opportunities and tap into them. Be curious, be creative and explore ways to contribute to your community’s development while building a stronger economic future for yourself,” he said.

He assured them as a government, his administration places great importance on youth development and empowerment hence the continuous investment in skill acquisition and vocational training programmes to create jobs, reduce poverty and build a generation of self-reliant, productive citizens.

“I encourage you to align yourself with these efforts. Work closely with your host communities, share ideas and participate in projects that uplift the lives of those around you. Together we can drive real progress,” h added.

He then appealed to employers of labour in the state to receive the corps members posted to the establishments warmly and give them the chance to contribute meaningfully.

“Provide a supportive environment where they can thrive and make a difference,” he said.

In her remarks, Mrs Salamatu Muhammad, Coordinator of the scheme in the state congratulated the corps members for conducting themselves properly during the three-week orientation course.

She then urged them to serve with humility and selflessness and be positive ambassadors of their families, the NYSC and the nation wherever they are posted to.

“Embrace your postings, avoid seeking reassignments and strive to impact your host communities meaningfully ,” she said.

She also urged the corps members to identify community needs, collaborate with others and leave a legacy of service after completing their service year.

She appreciated Governor Abdullahi Sule for his unwavering support and expressed delight with the progress of the construction of the new Multi-purpose hall under construction at the orientation camp. (NAN)
