In a bid to address the economic hardship faced women in Bauchi State, the Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity, and Development Initiative has launched a skill acquisition training program for 200 women.
The program, which is divided into two batches for 100 women in Bauchi local government, is aimed at equipping the beneficiaries with various skills to enhance their economic well-being and promote self-reliance for sustainable peace and development.
In an interview with Bauchi State Coordinator Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity, and Development Initiative, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Akuyam at the Prestige International School Gida Dubu, Bauchi, the initiative was established the former Sokoto State Governor, Attahiru Bafarawa, with the objective of promoting peace, unity, and development in the northern part of Nigeria.
He stated that it is a well-known fact that the region has been ravaged insecurity, which had a devastating impact on the lives of its citizens, pointing out that the organization believes that empowering women and promoting peace and unity are essential for the development of the region.
According to Akuyam, the organization’s mandate is fostering peace, unity, and development, which is the bedrock of its prowess to empower women together with its Chairman Board of Trustees Alhaji Bafara and like minds through the promotion of it’s values.
He maintained that the skill acquisition training program is a key component of the organisation strategy, stressing that it will enable the beneficiaries to acquire new skills and become self-reliant as educating a woman is educating a society.
Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Akuyam (Maitaman Misau), expressed delight at the launch of the program, noting that it is a key component of the organization’s strategy to empower women and promote peace and unity in the region.

The State Women Leader, Hajiya Sa’adatu Aminu Yahaya, emphasized that the program is part of efforts to enhance the living conditions of the Northern population and urged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to change their lives and benefit others.
She said that the training program will cover various skills to include the production of air freshener, liquid soap, milk candy, local ready-to-use food (“turn brown food”), and “Turaren wuta” (fire perfume), adding that the beneficiaries will be trained experienced instructors who will guide them through the entire process.
Hajiya Sa’adatu said that the program is expected to last for two weeks, with each batch of 100 women receiving training separately.
The Arewa Cohesion for Peace, Unity, and Development Initiative has partnered with Antanzil and Prestige International Schools to deliver the skills acquisition training program.
This partnership is a testament to the organization’s commitment for collaboration and its determination to make a positive impact in the lives of women in Bauchi State.
