Jobberman, Giwo Agro Partner SAZU to Train 900 Female Students on Soft Skills

No fewer than 900 female students of the Sa’adu Zungur University SAZU have benefited from the Soft Skills and Employability training, recently conducted at Yuli and Gadau main campus of the university.

The training was organized by Entrepreneurship Development Centre of the Sa’adu Zungur University SAZU in collaboration with Jobberman and Giwo Agro with funding from Master Card Foundation.

Female students were selected from 300 level and 400 level from different departments to participate in the training, which is designed to empower and prepare their mind towards approaching the life after graduation.

The Vice Chancellor of Sa’adu Zungur University Professor Fatimah Tahir while addressing the participants said that it is not enough for them to graduate without having extra-value attached to their certificates, adding that empowering them with skills, how to communicate for example in public, is a skill.

Represented by the Director Entrepreneurship Development Centre Dr. Salisu Ibrahim Waziri, the VC emphasized that it is important for them to have different types of skills to succeed in life.

The Vice Chancellor charged the participants to utilize the golden opportunity provided by the Jobberman and Giwa Agro under the Marlster Card, to train female students free of charge.

Professor Tahir said that the knowledge gained from the training will have a generational effect not only on the students, but on the society in general, considering the saying that educating a woman is educating the society.

The soft skills training focused on public speaking technique, CV writing, Grant proposal writing, business proposal skills, ICT amongst others, which is believed to be beneficial to the female students who are about to exit the university.

In his remarks, the Lead Consultant, Giwa Agro Malam Ibrahim Aminu Tahir said the training, which is attached to employment will equip the participants with the necessary knowledge on how to easily get jobs easily after graduation.

He reaffirmed their commitment towards partnership with the university’s management for continuous support to ensure academic excellence.

600 female students are nominated from Gadau Campus while 300 were selected from Yuli Campus, both of 300 and 400 levels for the training. Similar the training is also expected to be conducted for the Misau campus.
